What does the “Partner” badge mean?
A quick note on how CardHunt gets its prices.
CardHunt SA pulls listings from South African card shops in two ways. Both are reliable — the “Partner” badge tells you which kind of integration we have with that specific shop.
Default — public listings
For most shops, CardHunt reads the shop's public website and copies prices and stock into our database every night. This works well, but if a price changes during the day you'll see the previous day's value on CardHunt until our next refresh.
Always check the shop's page before checkout — that price is the real one.
Partner shops
Some shops have partnered with CardHunt directly and given us a read-only API key. For these shops, prices and stock are pulled straight from their inventory system instead of being parsed from their website. A small Partner badge appears next to the shop name on those listings.
What it means for you:
- The data is structured and accurate — fewer parsing mistakes
- The shop has explicitly opted in to being compared on CardHunt
- Stock and condition information tend to be more complete
It does not mean prices update in real time. Both partner and non-partner shops are refreshed on the same daily schedule. The badge is about integration depth, not refresh frequency.
It also doesn't mean the shop is sponsored, preferred, or paid for ranking. CardHunt doesn't take money from shops to rank them, and the badge doesn't change where a listing appears in search results.
Are non-partner shops less trustworthy?
No. They're the same shops you'd buy from anywhere else — we just read their prices a different way. The badge is about how CardHunt gets the data, not about the shop's reliability or reputation.
How does a shop become a partner?
Any South African card shop can request a direct integration at no cost. It involves generating a read-only API key on their side so CardHunt can read prices and stock directly. If you run a shop and would like to be integrated, email info@cardhunt.co.za.
